Abstract
Objective To study HIV related knowledge and condom use among married rural residents living with HIV,and to provide evidence and basis for promotion and elevation condom use in HIV families. Methods HIV/AIDS related knowledge and condom use skill were provided to people living with HIV.An anonymous questionnaire was used to collect information before and after intervention. Results After intervention, the correct rates on HIV transmission route, non transmission route and prevention method were enhanced. The proportion of condom use impulsively among female infectors was raised from 33.9% before intervention to 38.7% after intervention. Conclusions Our study suggests that more attention should be paid to the prevention and control of AIDS and the increase in condom use, especially,to female HIV infectors' capability of communication, negotiation on sex with their husbands, and elimination of their humiliation of accessing free condom.
