Abstract
The natural desert region, the natural artificial ecotone and the cultivated area are the three different habitats of Tamarix ramosissima and Haloxylon ammodendron distributed on the southern edge of Zhunger Basin in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. This paper studied the physiological and ecological characteristics of Haloxylon ammodendron and Tamarix ramosissima from the content of MDA and activity of SOD,CAT and POD,and offered the theory gist on the renewal and reconstruction of vegetation on the southern edge of Zhunger Basin. The results showed that the content of MDA of Tamarix ramosissima and Haloxylon ammodendron distributed in the habitats of the natural desert region and the cultivated area was higher than that of them distributed in the habitats of the natural artificial ecotone,so was the activity of SOD,CAT and POD.The drought tolerance of Haloxylon ammodendron is more than that of Tamarix ramosissima, respectively, according to the analysis and field investigation.
