Abstract
The tensile strength of AM60B magnesium alloy die casting part can reach to 176 N/mm2 while the magnesium alloy part being produced with semi-solid die casting technology, that means the solid fraction is about 50% and the die casting speed is 3 m/s.In addition to chemical composition, microstructure and alloy phase orientation are affected by the technological parameters significantly. The suitable process parameters can lead the microstructure and alloy phase orientation better, therefore the mechanical properties of the alloy can be increased. The effect of casting process parameters on microstructure and mechanical properties of AM60B alloy has been studied systematically using cold chamber die casting process.
