Abstract

Objective To understand the epidemiological status and related risk factors of dyslipidemia among the adults in Hebei Province. Methods A total of 4,200 adults from 20 districts or counties in Hebei Province were selected by multistage stratified random sampling method to conduct questionnaire survey and physical examination. Results The levels of TC,TG,HDL-C and LDL-C were 4.43mmol/L,1.58mmol/L,1.30mmol/L,and 2.52mmol/L.The values of TC and TG were higher than the average levels of Chinese reported in 2002.The prevalence rate of dyslipidemia was 46.50% (the age-adjusted rate was 43.29%).The elevated TC,TG,LDL-C and decreased HDL-C accounted for 14.68%,30.72%,12.01%,and 11.29% respectively;the age-adjusted rates were 11.02%,26.19%,9.07%,and 12.51% respectively. The prevalence of diseases was closely related to ageing(χ2=77.71,P0.01).The rate in urban areas(52.38%) was higher than in rural areas(43.98%)(χ2=11.71,P0.01). Multiple logistic regression analysis indicated that age-group,educational level, occupation, smoking, overweight, central obesity, hypertension, and hyperglycemia were the major risk factors of dyslipidemia(OR values and 95% CI equaled 1.91,1.49~2.45;1.68,1.06~2.64;1.54,1.03~2.32;1.29,1.06~1.57;1.61,1.36~1.90;1.47,1.11~1.93;1.58,1.37~1.82;1.49,1.21~1.83). Conclusions The levels of serum lipids and the prevalence rate of dyslipidemia among the adults in Hebei Province are higher than the average levels in China. The most common dyslipidemia are elevated TC and TG,and the middle-aged and senile people are the key target population.
