Abstract
The author made an investigation into the mnemonics adopted by non-universities students and found that these students mainly memorize words by depending on rote learning. The experiment shows that students can memorize well the words associated with their English proficiency with rote memory, whereas it is difficult for them to memorize those words beyond their ability. So we suggest that vocabulary should be classified, based on the degree of difficulty,to remember in English learning if memorizing words mechanically.
