Abstract

Accumulation of rich historical experience in the tortuous socialist development offers China more mature conditions to settle both in practice and theory the great historical task of how to develop socialism after obtaining power by the proletariat. In his reunderstanding of socialism, Deng Xiaoping put forward a series of new theories such as The Essence of Socialism and The Initial Stage of Socialism, and thus developed the Deng Xiaoping theory. The sudden changes in the Soviet Union and East Europe threw the international communist movement into a low ebb and intricate international situation. However, Deng adopted a wait-and-see attitude, saved the critical situation by sticking to socialism in the most populous country in the world and changing the situation to favor the people of the world. Deng's theory and success of reform and socialist modernization in China are the dawn of the re-rise and development in the international communist movement.
