The Essence of Chen Zi-ang's "Xing-Jin" Theory and Its Historical Position

For thousands of rears,people thend to generalize the preface of Xiuzhu Pian as Xing Ji theory which means innovation by return to the ancients.Actually,Xing Ji is,to large extent,a theory of Dao Bi which means retreting or falling back.The theory of CHEN Zi-ang which had not had an in fluence before the death of him,however,was respected and honoured by HAN Yu etc.more than one hundred year after CHEN Zi-ang's death,hence,it led to the recession of Tang Dynasty poem even of the wholc classical poems.
