Abstract
In this paper, the fault mechanism and vibration characteristics of rolling bearing are analyzed and the methods of vibration signal analysis and fault diagnosis for these components are described in detail. The authors successfully used an approach to the extraction of fault features from their vibrations with envelope analysis and orthogonal decomposition of wavelet packets, where envelope analysis is used as the preprocessing of the decomposition. Then, an instrument for the fault diagnosis of rolling bearing is developed. The results show that the method is very suitable for the online inspection and diagnosis of the rolling bearing.
