Do not neglect the treatment of osteoporosis for patients with osteoporotic fractures

Abstract
Objective To understand the attention of orthopedic surgeons on osteoporosis,and to improve the efficiency and treatment method for the osteoporotic fracture.Methods All articles related to the treatment of osteoporotic fractures published on Chinese Journal of Osteoporosis from August 1995 to August 2010 were reviewed.Fracture treatment methods and the application of anti-osteoporosis drugs were analyzed statistically.Results Forty-nine articles related to the treatment of osteoporotic fractures were found.Three thousand four hundred and two patients with osteoporotic fractures were treated,including 1160 males and 2242 females.Among the 49 articles,anti-osteoporosis drugs were applied only in 13 articles(26.54%),while not applied in 36 articles(73.46%).Conclusion Most orthopedic surgeons paid little attention to the treatment of osteoporosis,but the treatment of fracture alone.
