Abstract

Objective To study the role of serum vascular endothelial growth factor(sVEGF) in the angiogenesis, invasion and metastasis of hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC).Methods The serum VEGF were studied by ELISA in 34 patients with HCC and controled patients with Hepatocirrhosis(HP) and Chronic active hepatosis(CAH).Results Compared with HP and CAH,sVEGF concentration was significantly higher in patients with HCC(P0.01).And the expression of sVEGF in the patients with pv-emboli or with poor-encapsulated tumors was significantly higher than those without pv-emboli tumors(P0.01).Although there was no evident difference in sVEGF concentration between tumors of different size,sVEGF had an increased tendency. Conclusion VEGF plays an important role in the angiogenesis, invasion and metastasis in HCC.sVEGF concentration can be a better marker for predicting the angiogenesis, invasion and metastasis of HCC.
