Abstract

Objective To investigate the clinical application value of the 3D 16-slice spiral CT angiography(SCTA) in aortic dissection. Methods Pre-and post-contrast CT scanning with 16-slice spiral CT(SCT) were performed in 43 patients with aortic dissection.Postprocessing techniques including multi-planar reformation(MPR),maximum intensity projection(MIP) and volume rendering(VR) were undertaken to reconstruct. Results The different reconstruction techniques could perform different aspects of aortic dissection, such as the extension of the lesion, true and false cavity, intimal flap, entry of intimal tear, the involvement of branches and stent implantation.Integrated use of these techniques could display the structure and characteristics comprehensively. Conclusion The 3D 16slice spiral CT angiography is a fast, safe, reliable and noninvasive means. It has extremely important value for aortic dissection in the preoperative diagnosis, the choice of treatment and the postoperative follow-up observation.
