Sharing Files between Linux and Windows by Samba

Abstract

There are sometimes a few operation systems existing in one local area network.Windows and Linux operation system are comparatively popular within these operation systems.It is often necessary to realize file sharing between the operation systems in local network.We can realize this purpose by Samba software package.This paper primarily introduces SMB protocol and configuration of Samba.Afterwards it introduces the method of how to realize reversible file sharing between Linux and Windows by Samba,and illustrates the difference when Windows 98 and Windows 2000 share files and printers from Linux.
