Association between Angiotensin Converting Enzyme Gene Polymorphism and Cerebral Infarction with Hypertension

[Objective]To investigate the relationship between the gene polymorphism of angiotensin converting enzyme(ACE)and cerebral infarction with hypertension,and to analyze their possible mechanisms.[Methods]52 patients with hypertensive cerebral infarction were investigated and compared with 70 healthy control subjects.The insertion/deletion polymorphism of ACE gene was determined by polymerase chain reaction(PCR)and agarose gel electrophoresis.Distribution difference of ACE gene polymorphism between patients group and control group was compared.[Results]The frequencies of DD genotype and D allele in patients with hypertensive cerebral infarction(32.7%,53.8% respectively)were higher than that of controls,and the differences were significant(P0.05).[Conclusion]The polymorphism of ACE gene related with cerebral infarction with hypertension which may increase the risk of incidence.
