Abstract
The degree of exploration is relatively low in the Hongche fault zone of the northwestern margin of the Junggar Basin. With the acceleration of oil and gas exploration progress, more and more oil and gas have been discovered in Carboniferous volcanic rocks in recent years. This paper discusses and analyzes the characteristics of Carboniferous volcanic reservoirs in respects of reservoir petrology and reservoir quality. The result is that the reservoir rock is dominated by volcaniclastic rock;the reservoir space is dominated by secondary porosity and secondary fractures;the best porosity is found in volcanic breccia and glutenite;the best permeability is found in tuff;the reservoir rocks have low oil-bearing degree and mostly are not oil-bearing,being dry or water layer;only about a quarter of the reservoirs is productive.
