Abstract
Objective: To observe whether subglottie secretion drainage prevents nosocomial pneumonia in mechanically ventilated palienls,and to approach nursing measures. Methods:'Patients requiring mechanical ventilation in ICU are divided into two grorps:One grorp receive subgolltic secretion drainage,using especially designed endotracheal tube,The other group receive routine medical are,using general endotracheal tube. We require bacteriology samples from oral cavity, subglottis and subpneogaster, record days of mechanical ventilation and the cases of VAP.Results: The incidence rate of VAP is 25.7% in thepatients receiving subglotlic secretion drainage, average time is 11.6±4. 1 days.the rate of routine medical care group is 53.3% , average time is 8.4±3.0 days.There are statistically significant dif-ferenes between two groups(P 0.05) .Conlusion: Our findings suggest that the ocurrene of VAP can be significantly delayed among patients using this simple - to - apply technique.
