The present study and trends of nursing quality standard and evaluation system

Nursing quality standard and evaluation system is the key point in quality management.Most of the international studies on nursing quality standard are based on a systematic theoretical model,the main evaluation index focus on the following 3 aspects,thay are the structures of nursing,the process of nursing and the outcomes of nursing,and most of the studies incorporate quantitative evaluation with qualitative evaluation and the ways of evaluation are diversified.In China,we lack the uniform nursing quality standard,there are great difference in the evaluation contents due to different evaluation standards,and most of the evaluation systems are qualitative method with single evaluation way.Along with the change of medical model and the development of nursing science,as well as the further development of modern nursing management ideas and the change of patients' needs,it is necessary to establish the uniform nursing quality standard and evaluation system considering both the improvement of the whole quality of nursing in China and the improvement of the quality of nursing in various nursing specialty in different hospitals,which will still need to be revised and improved constantly along with the change of nursing conditions.Author's address:Nursing Department,West China Hospital,Sichuan University,Chengdu 610041,China
