A Cultural Approach to the Translation of Separation in Traditional Chinese Poetry

Separation is always one of the eternal themes in traditional Chinese poetry,behind which Chinese traditional cultural factors cannot be ignored.While a translation is a kind of spoken or pen language to convey the thoughts the source language expresses in a way the audience or readers can understand,with the aim to establish a kind of equivalence between two different language expressions.That is to say,translation is a kind of recreation by the translator under the influence of the social and cultural language rather than a reappearance of the language in another form objectively and stiffly.Therefore,the cultural interpretation,as well as the interpretation of poetry forms and content,becomes an important mission in the translation of traditional Chinese poetry.In this paper,based on Chinese and English linguistic features,the transmission of Chinese separation culture in poems translation process is explored under both the Chinese and western translation theories.
