Abstract
Objective To investigate the value of 50g glucose challenge test(50 g GCT) in diagnosis and treatment of gestational diabetes mellitus(GDM). Methods From Jan. 2000 to Jun. 2003, 368 pregnant women with abnormal 50 g GCT in our hospital. These were divided into group Ⅰ,Ⅱ,Ⅲ,Ⅳ and Ⅴ, whose 50 g GCT values were ≥7.8~8.0 mmol/ L, ≥8.0~9.0 mmol/ L, ≥9.0~10.0 mmol/ L, ≥10.0~11.0 mmol/ L and ≥11.0 mmol/ L, respectively; and then compared with those of 75 g GCT values. Results The incidence of GDM were 6.9%, 8.5%, 21.3%, 47.8% and 85.0%, respectively and and the incidences of abnormal OGTT were 19.0%, 24.2%, 51.1%, 87.0% and 90.0%, respectively. Conclusion The 50 g GCT value is important in the diagnosis and treatment of GDM.
