Abstract
This experiment was conducted with the potted plants of maize at modest water stress and the effects of water stress on the leaf photosynthesis and the plant yields were investigated. The result indicates that the decline in the kernel yields of corn is mainly caused by the reduction in ear kernel number, also by the decline in grain weight.Index of the drought resistance of Shenshi 29 is the highest among the three varieties, and the results of the decline in corn yields are due to the decrease in the photosynthetic rate and chlorophyll contents of maize leaves.
