Abstract
Objective:To assess the clinical value of uterine arterial different branch embolization on uterine leiomyoma via interventional therapy.Methods:87 patients were treated with uterine leiomyoma by different uterine arterial embolization ways. The main uterine arteries were embolized in 52 cases while the branch uterine arteries were embolized in 35 patients. The embolic materials used in this study were PVA or PLM and Lipiodol. Results:The clinical symptoms were improved in 93.5%. 3 months follow-up study showed: reduction of the volume of uterine leiomyoma by 53.5%~81.0%, the menorrhagia and menstrual cycles returned to normal and pain resolved. The physiologic functions of ovary was preserved completely. Conclusion:Selective uterine arterial embolization is a good method for treatment of uterine leiomyoma with better effects and less trauma or lower complications.
