Abstract

Objective: To summarize the experience of treatment of traumatic hemothorax. Methods: The data of 502 cases of traumatic hemothorax were retrospectivly studied.125 cases of them performed thoracotomy.301 cases of them,thoracic drainage was institued.Results:There were 12 daths with a mortality rate of 2.4%.490 patients recovered after treatment.Conclusion: Thoracic drainage is a simple and effective treatment method of traumatic hemothorax.Only about 20% patients require major thoracotomy.
