Abstract
We studied the after-effect of manure applied in first year at different rates on wheat yield, yield components and quality, water utility and soil fertility in the following years with long-term experiments. The results showed that the manure not only significantly increased the yield, the ear number per unit area and seed number per spike of wheat but also enhanced the contents of soil organic matter, total nitrogen, available phosphorus and potassium in the tilled layer and the water utilization ratio in the current years. Importantly, organic manure had a considerable-length of after-effect. The relation of wheat yield and manure rates was converted from quadratic relation curve to linear correlation with time. The contents of crude protein and dry or wet gluten significantly and positively correlated with the applied manure rates.
