Abstract

High glucose could increase ECs apoptosis and reduce the expressions of bcl-xL and eNOS. But if physiological or high concentration of insulin was added, the apoptosis of ECs decreased markedly and the expressions of bcl-xL and eNOS increased. The correlation coefficient was-0.85 between apoptosis and the expression of eNOS, and-0.81 between apoptosis and the expression of bcl-xL. It showed that insulin can inhibit HUVEC apoptosis induced by hyperglycemia, which may be related with the increased expression of bcl-xL and eNOS.
