Abstract

Using RS and GIS technique and based on three TM images of Shiyang river basin from 2000 to 2008,the land use/cover database at three times was established. In combination with the socio-economic statistics and the meteorological observation data, the dynamical trend of LUCC and the driving forces of study areas in eight years were analyzed. The result showed that:noticeable changes in land use/cover change(LUCC)occurred in Shiyang river basin in recent ten years, and mainly in anthropic zone of plain area of central basin. There was a slowly increasing tendency in area of forestland, water and urban. The area of farmland was ascended in prophase and was descended in anaphase, but it kept a increasing tendency in the mass as the it increased by 158.33 km2 from 2000 to 2008.The grassland area had been respectively decreased in the period of 2000-2005,and enlarged between 2005 and 2008.During the two periods the unused land remarkably decreased. The impact of demographic factors, economic factors and policy factors were more significant to the land-use change in a short time scale.
