Abstract

n -Butyl chloride was prepared from hydrochloric gas and n -butyl alcohol under normal pressure using reaction-distillation technique.Influences of catalyst and reaction temperature were investigated. The optimum reaction conditions were m(n -butyl alcohol )∶ m (ZnCl_2)∶ m (FeCl_3)=1∶0 .2∶0 .001,tower bottom temperature 105~108 ℃ and tower top temperature 67~69 ℃.Purity of n -butyl chloride by lefting the water was higher than 99 .5% and the yield reached 85%.This process had no acid waster-water.
