Benjamin Constant's liberal ideas

Benjamin Constant,a French bourgeois thinker,made a critical study of Rousseau's liberal ideas,and based on which,he put forward his fully new liberal ideas which include individual freedom and political freedom.He not only lays stress on the core position of individual freedom,but also emphasizes the importance of political freedom.He clearly put forward the issue concerning the dividing line between private life and public authority.Constant's liberty is the freedom in political and social sense and the freedom under restriction of law with individual freedom at the core and with guarantee of political freedom.
