Abstract
Firstly this article presents the architecture design of the current router and deeply researches on the technologies of the advanced network processor. Secondly a concrete scheme of IPv6 router based on network processor is put forward. A detailed analysis of routing table lookup, packet switch, congestion management, etc, is then introduced. Finally the paper discusses the software modules of IPv6 router.
