Abstract

The Tian—Ren is a key topic in Chinese ancient history of thought.The correspondence be- tween Tian and Ben is the basic thought pattern in ancient Chinese ideology.Thinkers endowed Tian with various meanings at different social periods.All the way from Confucius and Mencius to Xunzi,Pre-Qin Tian - Ren concept of Confucianism was wholly based on human and emphasized Tian Ben He Yi on the basis of human's dynamic role;futhermore,Confucianist understanding of Tian in that period also indicated the ten- dency of a decline in religious and moral meanings as well as an obvious enhancement of humanity meanings. Such phenomena resulted from social progress and awakened self - awareness of mankind and was an inevitably evolution of human ideology and culture.
