On the Love Poems in The Book of Odes

Abstract

The Book of Odes is the first poetry collection in Chinese literary history,from which love poems left great influence on the future literature.Some of the poems took heroines as the main character,reflecting their missing for their lovers and struggling against the fate;some of the poems took heroes as main character,reflecting their love for their lovers.These poems showed the attitudes of the people to love before and in Zhou Dynasty,that is to pursue love freely and commitment to love.Of course,we can also see the limitation and boundary from convention to love.
