Abstract

A novel method was established to estimate the uncertainty in the measurement of lead in paint by flame atomic absorption spectrometry(FAAS)based on data of precision and deviation within laboratory.A representative range of samples covering different matrices and lead concentration levels were employed to investigate the whole performance parameters of precision and method recovery. The measurement uncertainties of both parameters were calculated, respectively, and then combined. The results reveal that the individual uncertainty of precision and recovery is 0.044 and 0.029,respectively,the combined measurement uncertainty is 0.053,and the expanded uncertainty is 0.106.This procedure provides a new method for estimation of measurement uncertainty for analytical laboratory, and it is simple, reasonable and the result is reliable.
