Abstract
Objective: To investigate the inhibitive effecs of Procaine on the human liver carcinoma HepG2 cells. Methods: The cell morphology was examined under a contrast microscope, cell proliferation was detected by MTT assay and cell cycles were examined by flow cytometry(FCM).Results: HepG2 cells showed shrinking, vacuoles, abscission.FCM showed that PCA prolonged G0/G1 phase and shortened the S phase of HepG2 cells. With the increase of PCA concentration and incubation time,HepG2 cells were inhibited increasingly in the proliferation determined by MTT.The effects on cell growth and proliferation depend on the concentration of PCA and incubation time. Conclusion: Procaine blocks the HepG2 cells in G0/G1 phase, and therefore inhibits the cell proliferation significantly in a dose-and time-dependent manner.
