Abstract

The Medieval Warm Period(MWP)was another warm period after postglacial epoch. The research results indicated that driftingsands were fixed in sandy land during theMWPin eastern China. In this article, sometypical Holocene sections, found in Otindag Sandy Land, were collected and demonstratedthat climate was warm and humid during the MWP,paleosol and lacustrinesedimentdevelopedand driftingsands were fixed, especially in eastern, southern and the middle of sandy land, and the area of sandy land became smaller.Pollens were analyzed to certify that the vegetation cover increased and the landscapes of the sandy land were dry grassland or wood grassland. This result will be the basic data for the research of environment changes in Otindag Sandy Land in the future.
