Abstract

The effects of five different green manure species on soil pH,organic matter and nutrients content, microbial biomass were studied to provide the scientific basis for soil improvement and tobacco quality in dry land tobacco planting areas of West Hunan. The results showed that application of green manures can enhance soil pH effectively, increase quantity of bacteria and nitrobacteria in soil significantly, improve soil environment effectively and boost soil fertility.Performance of common vetch is the best green manure for soil nutrients and microbial biomass among five tested green manure species.
