Abstract
A displacement based seismic design method was discussed.Using equivalent linear method, a kind of nonlinear displacement design spectrum used in displacement based seismic design was derived from the elastic displacement design spectra. And with the design targeted at the ductility of the structure, a new method was established in which the elastic stiffness of the structure was used as the effective stiffness based upon the nonlinear displacement design spectra. A comprehensive procedure for displacement based seismic design of cantilever bridge columns is presented and is verified with reference[1]
