Abstract

Objective:To observe the efficacy of N-acetylcysteine (NAC) injection to 58 patients with chronic severe hepatitis B. Methods: All of 58 patients including earlier period and intermediate stage were randomly divided into the NAC treatment (consisted of 58 patients) and the control group (consisted of 57 patients). All of the patients were treated with general treatment including amylaceum, potassium magmesium aspartate, albumin or blood plasma and hepatocyte growth-promoting factors (once a day with 100 milligram). The patients in NAC group were treated with NAC injection, once a day with 8 gram for 30 days. The control group was given the general treatment. Hepatic function (TBil, ALT, AST) and PTA was tested at 0 day,15th day, 30th day, respectively. Results: Thirty days after treatment, the total bilirubin (TBil) and the PTA showed more remarkable improvement in the NAC group than the control group. The statistics showed significantly difference between the two groups. Conclusion: NAC can decrease the level of serum TBil and increase the PTA. NAC is effective to patients with chronic severe hepatitis B.
