Abstract

Beloved is Toni Morrison's novel that wins her the Nobel Prize for literature.It remains a triumph with its unique artistic charm.Toni Morrison exposes us another kind of motherhood of the black mother based on the double inferior identity——racial and sexual,especially in that anti-humanistic background of slavery before the abolition through the tragedy of infanticide.Beloved critiques traditional attitudes toward motherhood as desperate and destructive.
