Abstract
N Stearyl N′,N′ dimethyl propanediamine was synthesized with stearic acid and N′,N′ dimethyl propanediamine as raw material, xylene as solvent and organic tin as catalyst. The optimum reaction conditions were determined through orthogonalized tests. They were as follows: molar ratio of n (stearic acid)∶ n(N′,N′ dimethylpropanediamine)=1∶1; reaction temperature, 145°C; reaction time, 2 h; catalyst, 3%. Under the above conditions a yield of 90% was obtained. The product was characterized by IR and elemental analysis.
