Abstract

Objective To investigate the relationships between serum level of interleukin(IL-18) and acute coronary syndrome(ACS),and whether IL-18 is a reliable biochemical marker indi cating the severity of ACS.Methods Seventy-one patients including acute coronary syndrome(ACS),Amorg,21 cases of acute myocardial infarction(AMI group),29 cases of unstable anginal(UA group).21 cases of stable angina(SA group) and 20 normal control were studied,Serum concentration of IL-18 was measured by enzyme linked immuno-adsorption assay. Results The concentration of IL-18 in Patients with ACS was correlative with the severity of the diseases,The serum level of IL-18 was obviously higher in the acute coronary syndrome group than that in the stable angina pectoris group and normal control group(P0.01),and it was positively correlated with the stenosis lesion branches(r=0.266,P=0.003).Conclusion Serum concentrtion of IL-18 In patients with ACS might be a reliable biochemical marker which can objectively indicate the degree of this disease. It may be used as an important prognostic marker for ACS.
