Abstract

The Q235 carbon steel surface was coated with an epoxy coatings to improve its corrosion resistance. The properties of the Q235 steel before and after coated were compared by neutral salt spray test( NSS),damp heat test, salt immersion test and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy( EIS). The results showed that the average corrosion rate of coated Q235 steel in salt solution was only 38. 8 mg /( m2·h) and was decreased of more than 6times. The low-frequency impedance value was increased of three order of magnitude. The corrosion resistance of Q235 steel was significantly improved.
