Clinical Effectiveness of Floating Needling Combined with Acupuncture for Scapulohumeral Periarthritis

Objective: To observe the clinical effectiveness of the floating needling combined with acupuncture in treatment of scapulohumeral periarthritis.Methods: Ninety patients undergoing scapulohumeral periarthritis were divided randomly into three groups(each group 30 cases):(A) treated at the shoulder's sore points caused by moving at once every other day with floating needling;(B) treated at the short points of attachment of musculus coracobrachialis and biceps brachii at the coronoid on the first,the seventh and the thirteenth day with acupuncture;(C) treated with acupuncture on the first day and with floating needling added on the next day.VAS grades and ROM test on the shoulders were assessed before and after treatment,and the clinical efficacy was compared among the groups.Results: After treatment for two weeks,the VAS and ROM were decreased in all groups(P0.05 or 0.01),and the rate of descent in group C was higher significantly than that in groups A,and B(P0.01).The cure rate and the overall effective rate in group C(71.3% and 90.0%) were significantly higher than in groups A(6.7% and 70.0%) and B(13.3% and 71.3%)(P0.01).Conclusion: The floating needling with acupuncture treatment has more satisfactory curative effects for scapulohumeral periarthritis.
