Abstract
In this paper, the rheological properties of bentonite was studied. The results showed that the viscosity of bentonite suspension was affected by concentration, shearing stress, dissolution temperature, heated time, pH, freezing-thawing conditions etc. Bentonite suspension had high viscosity, when its concentration reached 60%, the viscosity was 542.8mPa·s,and it is non-Newton fluid. Temperature and time in hot water had big effect on it. The stability of bentonite in acidic solution and alkalinous solution was better, its viscosity was declined after the treatment of freezing-thawing.
