Abstract

【Objective】To observe effect of leflunomide on primary nephrotic syndrome and possible side-effects.【Methods】Sixty patients with primary nephrotic syndrome were randomly divided into leflunomide group(prednisone plus leflunomide) and prednisone alone group. Time of therapy was four weeks.【Results】Leflunomide group was significantly superior to the prednisone group in immediate remission rate and there were no changes in white-blood-cells count and the function of liver and kidney during treatment.【Conclusion】Leflunomide has better immediate effects on primary nephrotic syndrome with minor side-effects.The long-term effects need further investigation.
