Abstract
Using polypropylene and montmorillonite as raw materials,PP/MMT nanocomposites were prepared by using the intercalation compounding method.They were characterized by TEM and mechanical properties.The results indicated that polypropylene chains could be intercalated into the layered silicate of modified organo-montmorillonite.Montmorillonite was exfoliated into nanometer scaled particles and uniformly dispersed into polypropylene matrix.Furthermore,the mechanical properties of polypropylene/montmorillonite nanocomposites were improved.
