Chromosomal karyotype analysis of peripheral blood lymphocyte using R-band method in couples with spontaneous abortion

Aim To explore the relationship between spontaneous abortion and chromosomal abnormalities.Method Using the method of small volume blood culture in RPMI1640,the chromosome of circular lymphocytes in 129 couples with spontaneous abortion was detected.Results 12 cases with abnormal chromosome were found among 258 cases,accounted 4.6 %,of all,females were 7 cases and males were 5 cases.Among these chromosomal abnormalities,7 cases belonged to the balanced translocation of chromosome and 2 cases were hyperdiploid(1 case,47,XYY;1 case,47,XXX),3 cases heterokaryotype included Yp+,Yq-and 2q+1.Conclusions The spontaneous abortion is associated with chromosomal abnormalities.The rate of the abnormalities chromosome of circular lymphocytes in the couples with spontaneous abortion were 4.6 %.Balance translocation is a common chromosomal karyotype in spontaneous abortion couples.
