Abstract
According to data of 12 stations in western part of southern Tianshan from 2009 to 2012,they used initial P wave polarity method to calculate focal mechanism solutions. They also studied characteristics of tectonic stress field,direction of principal compressive stress axis and tensile stress axis in southern Tianshan,the results indicated direction of tectonic stress field in southern Tianshan was approximately NW.
