Abstract
Objective To investigate the effect of type 2 diabetes mellitus on serum cytokine levels in patients with liver cirrhosis complicated with spontaneous bacterial peritonitis diabetes( SBP). Methods A total of 52 patients with SBP complicated with liver cirrhosis during December 2010 and December 2012 in our hospital were divided into complicated with type 2 diabetes mellitus group( group A,n = 17) and non-diabetic group( group B,n = 35). The serum levels of interleukin-2( IL-2),IL-4,IL-6,IL-8,IL-10,interferon-γ( INF-γ) and tumor necrosis factor-α( TNF-α)were detected in the two groups before the antibiotics treatment. Results The serum levels of IL-6 and TNF-α in group A were significantly higher than those of group B,while the serum level of IL-10 was significantly lower than that of group B( P 0. 05). There were no significant differences in serum levels of IL-2,IL-4,IL-8 and INF-γ between the two groups( P 0. 05). Conclusion The unbalance cytokine level of patients with liver cirrhosis complicated with type 2diabetes mellitus can provide reference in diagnosis of SBP in early monitoring.
