Abstract

Although Nanjing has the history of more than 2000 years, its city spatial expansion hasn't developed fast until the reform and opening in 1978.Northeast and southwest is the leading direction of city expansion, and the connotative expansion develops fast obviously, the expansion speed in various construction sites is large difference. The influential factors of Nanjing city spatial expansion include economic condition, natural condition, traffic condition, the increase of population, the policy of city development and city plan and so on,the development of economy is the key factor,so we should accelerate the development of Xianlin area of eastern region,Hexi area of western region,Dongshan area of southern region to make them be the vice-regional center of Nanjing to scatter the population and founction. At the same time,we should strengthen the development of Jiangbei new urban and the control of the city in order to achieve the strategic of Nanjing across-river development, and improve the city's living environment.
