Abstract

【Objectives】 To know the status of knowledge,attitude and behavior about nutrition and physical exercise among the parents and the prevalence of obesity among children aged 2~4 years old in kindergarten,and to provide evidence for intervention. 【Methods】 Two kindergartens were selected from Chaoyang and Daxing district,respectively.The weight and height of 2 to 4 years old children in the kindergartens were measured.Obesity was defined by WHO standard weight for height.A questionnaire about nutrition and physical exercise was filled by the parents of the children. 【Results】 The prevalence of obesity among the children aged 2~4 years old in the kindergartens was 5.94%.18.12% of the children watched TV over 2 hours a day,27.65% of them played ambulant games less than 2 hours a day,26.26% of them drank sweet drinks every day.The children's behaviors were affected by their parents' knowledge about health. 【Conclusions】 Obesity has become an outstanding problem that affects the children's health.Health education should be intensified to make parents understand knowledge for health,and the parents may train their children to get into healthy habits.
