Abstract
Objective To observe the difference of therapeutic ef fects between abdominal acupuncture and body acupuncture on prolapse of lumbar intervertebral disc. Methods One hundred and fourteen cases we re randomly divided into a treatment group (n=62) and a control group (n =52). They were treated respectively by abdominal acupuncture and body acupunct ure. Results The cured rate and the total effective rate were 71.0% and 98.4% in th e treatment group, and 48.1% and 86.5% in the control group, respectively, with sig nificant differences between the two groups (P0.05), the treatment group being better than the control group. The treatment times needed for the abdominal acupuncture were less than those for body acupuncture with a significant difference between the two groups (P0.05). Conclusion Abdominal acupuncture has a good therapeutic effect on prolapse of lumbar intervertebral disc with a short therapeutic course.
