Effects of Heparin on the Efficacy of Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and the Changes of SOD and MDA in Cerebral Tissue of Rats

Abstract

Objective To observe the effects of heparin on the efficacy of cardiopulmonary resuscitation(CPR) in rats following asphyxia-induced cardiac arrest and the changes of supemxide dismutase(SOD)activity and malondialdehyde(MDA)contents in cerebral tissue of rats.Methods 50 male Sprague-Dawley rats were ran- domly divided into 3 groups:sham operation group(group C,n = 10),epinephrine group(group A,n=20),Hep- arin group(group H,n=20).The rat model of asphyxial cardiac arrest was established in group A and group H. CPR was started 8 minutes after asphyxiation.Epinephrine 0.01mg/kg combined with 0.9% NaCl or heparin 0.5mg/kg was administrated in group A and H,respectively.Group C was not established the model of CPR.The mean arterial pressuse(MBP)and heart rate(HR)was recorded before asphyxia,1,5,10,30,60min after restora- tion of spontaneous circulation(ROSC).SOD and MDA was determined in cerebral tissue 24h after ROSC.Re- sults There were not significant differences in baseline values among three groups(P0.05).Compared with group A,time of ROSC was significantly decreased(P0.01),MAP and the resuscitation rates was increased and after ROSC(P0.05).Compared with C 24h after ROSC,SOD was significantly decreased and MDA was significantly increased in both group A and H(P0.01).SOD and MDA in group H were higher(P0.05)or lower(P0.01)than that in group A(P0.05).Conclusion Heparin has beneficial effects in enhancing the achievement of CPR,reducing the injury of brain and improving the cerebral function.
